feb 21 - apr 4, 2026 at letterform archive

	co-curation of good luck 2026, the second installment in a series of exhibitions celebrating the lunar new year. the project started in 2025 for the year of the wood snake and continued this year for 2026 as we celebrated the year of the fire horse.&#38;nbsp;good luck 2026 has an expanded focus on the cultural ties between san francisco’s and new york city’s chinatowns. we worked with the w.o.w. project, midnight project, and lucky risograph, the organizers of the nyc-based lunar new year exhibition from chinatown, with love, to do a cross-country exchange. this year, i also spearheaded and produced an exhibition catalogue along with the free takeaway and a limited edition risograph print.
2026’s show was about highlighting the many contributions of asian americans and honoring chinatown as a site of deep heritage, an enduring presence, and an important piece in celebrating the traditions of the new year.&#38;nbsp;

digital + physical assets&#38;nbsp;
	digital assets included the show’s identity, which riffed on last year’s identity. i took inspiration from the neon signs that are often seen in chinatowns and the classic red and white “thank you” plastic bags that are usually part of the chinese takeout experience. 
physical assets included a limited edition risograph print and red envelopes for the year of the fire horse, a laser printed brochure takeaway, and an exhibition catalogue (designed and produced).

	a type specimen showcasing vocal type’s vtc tatsuro by typographically illustrating part of the asian american struggle. the content of the type specimen directly ties into the history surrounding the typeface, which was first used by a japanese american to announce his american citizenship the day after pearl harbor.

	a self-produced magazine dedicated to bringing attention and

appreciation to the unseen, overlooked, and&#38;nbsp;underappreciated elements in video games. established in 2024 to shine a light on the more visual&#38;nbsp;design aspects of the gaming world, take this! aims to highlight&#38;nbsp;the little things that make games special, no matter their&#38;nbsp;popularity or recognition.


each volume features a different game/game series:

vol. 1-kingdom hearts
vol. 2 (in progress)-nier
this publication also features a custom typeface on the title pages and a running “glitch” motif within the typesetting. the cover includes a transparent vinyl decal of an important icon found in the featured game that’s “hidden” on the cover to reflect the core of the content being discussed in the magazine.

(the thesis book)
	a book written and produced as part of my graduate thesis project, also titled sparkle. the book is part research, part history, and all about graphic design through the lens of the 


“magical girl” archetype.i printed seven copies, each with a cover featuring one letter from “sparkle,” rendered in a pattern derived from a custom typeface i designed for the thesis. the holographic vinyl decal on the cover is another nod to the magical quality of my thesis both in the material choice and in how that symbol actually says “sparkle.”

	a collection of books featuring icon families designed by the students of cca’s graphic design tools, spring 2024 class during my time with them as their teaching assistant. book conceptualization, typesetting, and printing were all done by myself with guidance from the teacher, sara raffo. book construction was a class effort! 
each student made individual books showcasing their own icon family and embroidered their favorite icon onto the book cloth.* i created master books for sara and myself containing work from the whole class.

was selected as one of cca’s project finalists in the 2024 biodesign challenge

	lemon leather is a biomaterial i created out of lemon waste and paper pulp. the main objective for the project was the creation and implementation of a self-made biomaterial in a way that would help create a closed loop waste stream in an industry. i initially chose the fashion industry because of my interest in embroidery and set out to create a biodegradable fabric that ended up being lemon leather. lemon leather was then turned into a harvest apron to help the very workers who harvest the lemons and the land that they work on.
throughout my time working on this project, i was also simultaneously undergoing a personal branding project on the side to give my biomaterial more substance as a design object.

	the typeface used for the logo is proxima nova, a sans serif that “is a hybrid that combines modern proportions with a geometric appearance.” i wanted to really emphasize the hybridness of this material (the fact that it’s a combination of three ingredients) so i chose a typeface with a similar background story. the “o” has been modified to fit the branding imagery.
the main branding color is a reflection of the lemon’s iconic yellow, set in two varieties of deeper shades for legibility.

	for the biodesign challenge, lemon leather was combined with the other cca design’s project finalist, rebound created by lisa santaniello, to form slice of life. within 4 weeks, our duo created a new project that highlighted the farmers in the citrus industry by designing biodegradable workwear for them made out of our lemon and orange based biomaterials.

	abc(american born chinese)
	a self-produced, hand-bound, hard cover encyclopedia speaking on the appropriation and whitewashing of chinese language, imagery, and cuisine through the eyes of a chinese-american.
the typeface used in the publication is vocal type’s vtc tatsuro, which was first used by a japanese american to announce his american citizenship the day after pearl harbor.&#38;nbsp; a coptic stitch binding was chosen because it gives a similar aesthetic as the traditional stab binding found on many historic chinese books but it allows the book to able to lay flat.&#38;nbsp;
