the typeface used in the publication is vocal type’s vtc tatsuro, which was first used by a japanese american to announce his american citizenship the day after pearl harbor. a coptic stitch binding was chosen because it gives a similar aesthetic as the traditional stab binding found on many historic chinese books but it allows the book to able to lay flat.
